Choose the vehicle around the cargo and site
Provide the number of pallets or pieces, their packed dimensions and gross weights, stackability and any handling restrictions. Full loads, part loads and groupage have different collection and delivery patterns. A tail lift is not suitable for every heavy or oversized piece: confirm the weight, access and unloading facilities before requesting one.
Cross-border paperwork and handovers
For an international movement, the route, goods and customs procedure determine the paperwork. Commercial documents and any customs or transit references need to be ready for the haulier at the agreed handover. Clarify who provides the instructions and who is responsible for discharge of any transit procedure. Vehicle departure should be planned around those requirements as well as warehouse availability.
Container haulage and final delivery
A port arrival estimate needs to be converted into a practical delivery plan after release and equipment availability are checked.
